Odyssey is a climate tech company transforming distributed energy globally. Our mission is to radically accelerate investment in distributed energy in growth markets, from Africa to India to Latin America. We offer the market’s only end-to-end finance platform, and are rapidly scaling our solar equipment marketplace with embedded supply chain credit for solar installers and EPCs. We have enormous traction ($2.5B capital on the platform), a collaborative, motivated and mission-driven team, and top VC investors backing us (Union Square Ventures, Equal Ventures, etc). We’re growing fast and ready to hire a VP of Finance to lead our company’s finance function.

The Role

This role would lead our Finance team, covering all aspects of strategic finance and FP&A. You’ll be responsible for leveling up our finance systems, processes and strategy as we reach the next level of scale. You’ll also work closely with our Capital Markets, Risk, and C-Suite teams to structure debt facilities and raise our next equity rounds. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance & Planning

• Lead all aspects of financial planning, forecasting and analytics to support strategic decision-making

• Partner with the CEO to translate company goals into financial plans 

• Bring best practices to our internal key performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting structures

Financial Operations

• Oversee budgeting, accounting, cash flow management, and treasury

• Execute set-up and ongoing operations of bankruptcy-remote SPVs across multiple jurisdictions

Risk & Compliance

• Implement internal controls, systems, and processes to support growth, financial rigor, and best practice compliance as it relates to sharing of information internally and externally

• Ensure full compliance with lender and investor reporting requirements and other covenants

Investor Relations

• Support Board engagements and other investor inquiries / matters

• Support future equity and/or debt fundraising efforts, including financial modeling, due diligence, and materials preparation.

Experience

Our ideal candidates come from a background in lending / fintechs with deep experience in the areas listed above. 

• 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role at a high-growth startup (ideally fintech/lending)

• Strong background in strategic finance, FP&A, and investor relations.

• Experience leading or supporting Series B/C fundraising rounds.

• Deep understanding of lending/fintech business models.

• Proven ability to build and scale a finance function from the ground up.

• Comfort working in fast-paced startup environments that require hustle and initiative-taking

• Strong modeling and analytical skills; expert in Excel/Google Sheets

Job Location

Flexible: Odyssey is a remote-first company with team members in Africa, Europe, India, the US and Latin America, but this position will coordinate with a Finance team in India so flexibility in working hours is essential.
