Location: Africa (Remote)
Reporting to: Group Financial Controller
The Regional Accountant will be responsible for the accounting, reporting, statutory compliance, and control environment for the Group’s SME legal entities, primarily in Africa.
This role includes ownership of month-end close, invoicing, reconciliations, statutory filings, and audit preparation. The Regional Accountant will also support cross-border transaction flows between the U.S. and Nigerian entities, ensuring accurate reconciliation and reporting across multiple currencies and jurisdictions.
This position requires a hands-on finance professional who is comfortable operating in a multi-entity environment and maintaining strong financial controls while supporting a growing international business.

- Manage day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping for assigned Africa entities.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and ensure accurate ledger maintenance.
- Maintain accounting records in Zoho Books (or the Group ERP system).
- Ensure compliance with group accounting policies and reporting timelines.
- Reconcile loan drawdowns, repayments, and funding flows.
- Coordinate with the Group Finance team on reporting, FX tracking, and intercompany transactions.
Cross-Border & Intercompany Transactions
- Support reconciliation and oversight of cross-border transaction flows between the U.S. and African entities.
- Maintain accurate intercompany balances and ensure proper FX treatment.
- Reconcile payments and collections processed across entities.
- Support the development of standardized processes for cross-entity transaction reconciliation.
Reconciliations & Financial Controls
- Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, intercompany balances, and key balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain clear supporting documentation and ensure reconciliations are audit-ready.
- Identify discrepancies and investigate variances.
- Support the strengthening of internal control processes across regional entities.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process supplier invoices and manage payment cycles.
- Maintain accurate customer and supplier ledgers.
- Monitor receivables and support timely collections.
- Provide input into cash flow forecasting through accurate reporting of payables and receivables.
- Coordinate with local advisors to ensure timely tax filings and regulatory compliance.
- Manage statutory reporting and filings across Africa entities.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trails for compliance purposes.
- Support annual audits and preparation of required documentation.
- Work with auditors to resolve queries and provide supporting information.
- Contribute to improvements in accounting processes and systems as the business scales.
- Assist with ERP implementation and documentation of finance procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (CA/CPA or equivalent preferred).
- 5–7 years of accounting experience, ideally across multiple entities or jurisdictions.
- Experience with cross-border and intercompany accounting.
- Strong understanding of IFRS and local GAAP.
- Experience with Zoho Books or other ERP systems.
- Excellent reconciliation, analytical, and documentation skills.
- High attention to detail and strong internal control mindset.
- Comfortable working across international teams and time zones.
